Data center & storage

"Advances in high performance optical networking are enabling a whole new industry of SAN applications and service offerings, such as outsourced storage and storage on demand. Brocade is committed to offering our SAN customers the widest array of options to take advantage of metropolitan area fiber for the high-speed interconnection of servers and storage. We are pleased to work with ADVA Optical Networking to ensure that our mutual customers can seamlessly internetwork Brocade-based SANs through ADVA Optical Networking's high performance DWDM solutions." Jack Cuthbert, Brocade vice president of Worldwide Marketing

"We considered leasing additional fibers, but that's very expensive – and it takes a long time to get permits. We might have been looking at an 18-month turnaround. That wasn't a realistic possibility. For my team, there was minimal time involved in bringing up the ADVA Optical Networking system. We unboxed it, connected the fiber cables and turned it on. That was the extend of it." Paul DiVittorio, UNIX Support Manager, EMC²

"In the final analysis, ADVA Optical Networking's cost-effective, proven, flexible WDM solution has satisfied each of EMC's needs -- for today and tomorrow." Paul DiVittorio, EMC² in an article in 101 Storage solutions

"The benefits of business continuity are extensive: protecting an enterprise’s mission-critical data and applications from potential disasters, meeting new legislation requirements, optimizing network investments, and minimizing capital and operating expenditures. ADVA Optical Networking’s FSP optical networking systems provide the critical high-speed connectivity, low latency, and bandwidth cost savings needed to optimize an HP Metroclusters for NonStop servers solution – all at an entry price point and total cost of ownership ratio that provide a strong and highly compelling value proposition to the enterprise customer.” Chris Rooke, VP Solutions and Marketing, NonStop Enterprise Division, HP

"Only a few companies' products are qualified for an IBM GDPS environment, so that in itself puts ADVA Optical Networking's FSP 3000 into a select group. There are, however, a number of additional reasons that make ADVA Optical Networking’s offering so compelling. The system is small, lightweight, and easy to install – helping to keep total cost of ownership very low and delivering an aggressive cost per channel. And there are some nice, advanced security features. For example, it’s the only system in its class to provide physical layer fiber intrusion detection, which is very important in securing data in flight over distances from tens to hundreds of kilometers or more and hardening the network. When you combine IBM’s cryptography capabilities with ADVA Optical Networking’s expertise over the physical layer, it makes for a truly unique offering in the marketplace." Casimer DeCusatis, Distinguished Engineer and GDPS patent-holder, IBM zSeries Server Division

Ethernet & IP

"Brocade offers a complete line of enterprise and service provider Ethernet switches, Ethernet routers, application management and network-wide security products. With industry-leading features, performance, reliability, and scalability capabilities, these products enable network convergence and secure network infrastructures to support advanced data, voice, and video applications. The complete Brocade product portfolio enables end-to-end networking from the edge to the core of today's networking infrastructures" www.brocade.com

"ADVA Optical Networking brings key optical technology to our Go Purple IP solutions portfolio. Each of our Go Purple partners provides unique and complementary technologies that enable a best-of-breed network infrastructure for the most demanding applications." Paul De Zan, Vice president of Corporate Marketing at Extreme Networks

"Juniper Networks--a leader in routing and switching solutions--and ADVA Optical Networking provide a unique integrated solution for IP/Optical networks. Capital expenditures for mutual customers are greatly reduced as Juniper's OTN and tunable DWDM interfaces (for T, MX, and M Series routers) interoperate directly with ADVA Optical Networking's alien wavelength support on the FSP 3000 DWDM optical transport system.
In addition, huge operational savings stem from Juniper's and ADVA Optical Networking's control plane and network management integration. The partners also offer an end-to-end solution through FSP 150 Ethernet access demarcation devices, which are integrated with Juniper's aggregation switches.
Juniper Networks is pleased to partner with ADVA Optical Networking for delivering customer solutions that will help them offer next generation ultra broadband services at lower cost."
Luc Ceuppens, Vice President of Marketing, Juniper Networks Infrastructure Products Group

Network management

ADVA Optical Networking's Etherjack technology works with InfoVista's VistaInsight for Networks back office system for managing and monitoring Ethernet SLAs.  Working with the Etherjack Service Assurance (ESA) capability found in the FSP 150, InfoVista's performance management OS collects ESA data from the Etherjack devices, stores it in a database and provides customized web based SLA reports for end-users, as well as forecasting tools for carrier NOC and planning groups.  It enables carriers to offer and verify end to end Ethernet SLAs for the first time.  For more information on InfoVista please visit: www.infovista.com

Security and encryption

"With the rapidly increasing demand for protected high-speed networks in the public business sector, new requirements regarding data security emerge. Although there are encryption solutions for securing sensitive or classified Ethernet/IP data available on the market, the secure connection of high speed storage networks has still been an issue. The combination of ATMedia's encryption product line with the ADVA Optical Networking systems offers a complete range of network encryption solutions for classified government networks. The ATMedia encryptors are certified by the German BSI for the encryption of networks according to the classification VS-NfD, EU and NATO restricted." Jörg Friedrich, Managing Director ATMedia GmbH

""Data encryption is the only method providing reliable and economical safeguard for efficient protection of high-performance and high-bandwith data transfer over public networks. And it is considered as an important discipline within corporate information risk management strategies. InfoGuard is pleased to enter the market with the first multilink and multiprotocol encryption device that seamlessly encrypts up to 10 interface ports simultaneously across any combination of Fibre Channel, Ficon and Ethernet protocols while maintaining lowest latency. This achievement was substantially supported by the extensive knowledge of ADVA Optical Networking as provider of optical and Ethernet transport solutions and its innovative TDM Module, which works perfectly with our encryption devices." Thomas Meier, CEO InfoGuard AG
