R&D Engineer System Integration Test

Entry level opportunity to develop test cases for software and hardware functions with traceability to engineering requirements, design manual tests, and then automate those same tests for a variety of fiber optic transmission equipment. Document test results and then initiate defect tracking for any non-compliance with engineering requirements. Position requires interacting with several multidisciplinary teams (R&D, test, production, and customer support).

Responsibilities

  • Test automation script development and contribute to tools development
  • Development of test cases in test management system (Quality Center)
  • Configuration and maintenance of test environments according to test task
  • Documentation and tracking of defects in test management system
  • Review of project related technical specifications and give feedbackMaintain test equipment and prototypes which are part of LAB
  • Respond to internal customers (SW, FPGA, SVT), include support for defects debugging
  • Ability to use measurement equipment necessary for all tasks in SIT
  • Independent learning about new technologies, test methods and usage of measurement equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to complete the full product design life cycle on a portion of the system involving multiple components
  • Capable of working independently on assigned activities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive understanding of the product architecture, design, processes, tools, etc. required to perform assigned integration activities.

Requirements

  • BS and/or MS Engineering/Science(0-5 years experience)
  • Self-Motivated/Independent with a passion for the verification process
  • Ability to participate with developing testing strategies, test plans, test cases and execution of those plans.
  • Ability to develop and execute automation scripts using Python, BASH scripting, and Robotframework
  • Familiarity with GIT or other Source Configuration Management tools.
  • Professional written and oral communication skills a must.
  • Experience with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to operate in a Linux environment
  • Interfaces well with different departments within the company.
  • Basic knowledge of IP, UDP, TCP required
  • Software architecture and design experience is a plus
  • Experience with standard Internetworking applications (telnet, ftp, ntp, syslog, etc) is a plus
  • Experience with OTN, GigaBitEthernet, SONET, DWDM, and fiber optics is a plus.
  • Experience with Network sniffers and analyzers, HP Sonet test sets, Fiber optic level testers is a plus.Experience with IP address planning and network configuration is a plus
  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, RIP, BGP) is a plu
  • Knowledge of SNMP protocol is a plus
  • Knowledge of Ipv4/Ipv6 routing is a plus
  • Office work environment
  • Travel = <10%
  • Able to work at a desk majority of the day; Moderate lifting, 15-44 lbs.
